MVG Museum

To celebrate the 150th anniversary of trams in Munich, the MVG Museum is inviting visitors of all ages on a special journey through time. Spread across more than 5,000 square meters, the museum features around 25 historic streetcars, buses, and service vehicles from different eras. Informational displays tell the story of technology, urban development, and the people behind public transportation. Numerous exhibits also bring to life the everyday experiences of earlier generations of tram riders and workers.

Linked by special shuttle from Odeonsplatz or City Bus 139 / 145 to Ständlerstraße and/or Tram 18 to Schwanseestraße.

Original vehicle for the poster motif: A-CLASS STREETCAR WITH CONDUCTOR IN HISTORIC UNIFORM

The conductor in his historic uniform invites you to the Long Night of Munich Museums from onboard one of the MVG Museum’s most treasured vehicles, the A-Class streetcar. Introduced in 1898, the A series was Munich’s first generation of electric streetcars and helped shape the cityscape for decades. Although the first cars were retired by the late 1920s, the last remained in service until 1958. Incidentally, car No. 256 still exists today and is one of the many highlights on display at the MVG Museum and during the “150 Years of the Tram” anniversary celebrations.
