Museum Brandhorst

Museum Brandhorst houses one of Germany’s most important collections of contemporary art and offers a multifaceted overview of contemporary artistic production. Behind its colorful façade, visitors can currently discover works by Andy Warhol, Rineke Dijkstra, Laura Owens, and many others. Among the highlights, alongside the Rose Room, is the Lepanto Cycle by American artist Cy Twombly, displayed in a gallery created specifically for the series.

The exhibition “Long Story Short” takes night owls on a journey through the history of contemporary art from the 1960s to the present day. Previously unseen works and recent acquisitions enter into a compelling dialogue with iconic pieces from the museum’s collection. With “Carrying,” the museum extends the exhibition space beyond its walls, activating locations both inside and outside Museum Brandhorst. International artists engage with historically charged sites, including Cy Twombly’s Lepanto Room and the landmark known as the Türkentor (Turkish Gate).
