What began as a new music festival at the turn of the millennium has since evolved into a Munich institution that delights countless visitors year after year. On May 9, we’ll celebrate a special anniversary: the 25th Long Night of Music, featuring captivating sounds, exciting encounters, and surprising moments!

This year, over 100 venues are participating, including many that have been with us since the very first Long Night: whether it’s the historic Hotel Bayerischer Hof with its energetic club nights, the University of Music and Theatre Munich with the citys up-and-coming musical talents, or cultural gathering places like St. Markus Church and the Literaturhaus München with the Brasserie OskarMaria—they all demonstrate how music brings the city to life. We would like to take this opportunity to extend our heartfelt thanks to these and all other partners who have been part of the Long Night for so long!

At the same time, the Long Night continues to grow. A sign of this is the numerous newcomers who have placed their trust in us: The Platzl Hotel with the Josefa and the Dallmayr Coffee Club combine hospitality with special musical moments. But the musical diversity is also expanding in terms of content: Rice Cookie Improv surprises with improvised musical theater, the WOW Museum accompanies illusions with pop and electronic music, and at OTTO•25•, guests enjoy jazz of the highest caliber—literally above the rooftops of Munich.

The way this night has unfolded is incredible, and we, as organizers, are enjoying every moment of it. We’d like to thank all the participants, partners, and, of course, the audience, who bring this night to life time and time again.

München lauscht, München tanzt, München feiert!
Bereits zum 25. Mal erklingt die Lange Nacht der Musik in unserer schönen Landeshauptstadt. Was vor einem Vierteljahrhundert als mutiges Experiment begann, ist heute nicht mehr aus dem Kulturkalender wegzudenken: Unter dem Motto „Eine Nacht – eine Stadt – 400 Konzerte“ wird ganz München Jahr für Jahr zur vielfältigsten Bühne für Livemusik!

Und genau diese Vielfalt spiegelt sich auch im diesjährigen Programm wider: Hier treffen klassische Arien auf moderne DJ-Sets und beschwingte Jazz-Konzerte auf experimentelle Klangwelten. All das zeigt: Diese Nacht kennt keine Grenzen! Das beweist auch die Vielzahl der Veranstaltungsorte: Wer den Abend in der Bayerischen Staatsoper beginnt, erlebt Verdis „Il trovatore“. Am Gärtnerplatztheater füllen mitreißende Opern-, Operetten- und Musicalaufführungen Saal und Pausenfoyer. Ganz neu dabei ist das Deutsche Theatermuseum: Jazz, Liebeslieder und Karaoke lassen Shakespeares Klassiker „Romeo und Julia“ lebendig werden. 

Und auch der musikalische Nachwuchs setzt wieder starke Akzente: Studierende der Hochschule für Musik und Theater gestalten eine Nacht zwischen französischem Barock und „Orgel Late Night“, an der TUM sorgen Big-Band-
Battles und Jam Sessions für mitreißende Energie und an der LMU geben Fledermäuse den Ton an: Im HörSalon der Universität eröffnen Echoortung und Ultraschall neue Perspektiven auf Musik und Ton.

Mein Dank gilt allen Mitwirkenden, die die Lange Nacht der Musik auch in ihrer Jubiläumsausgabe zu einem Klangfest für die ganze Stadt werden lassen. Ihnen, liebe Besucherinnen und Besucher, wünsche ich eine wunderbare
