A | Stroll Through the Heart of Munich
Meeting point: Entrance to the Toy Museum, the Spielzeugmuseum, tower of the Altes Rathauses, Tour 91, Marienplatz
7 and 8 pm: It all began with salt. But what happened next? On this guided walk through Munich’s city center, visitors will embark on a journey through time, tracing the city’s transformation from a small settlement “by the monks” into the Bavarian capital. Along the way, participants will gain fascinating insights into Munich’s development, from its medieval origins to the vibrant modern metropolis it is today.
B | Munich during the Nazi Period
Meeting point: Odeonsplatz, in front of the Theatinerkirche, Tour 91/92/93/94, Odeonsplatz
7:30 pm: Between Odeonsplatz and Königsplatz, numerous traces bear witness to the National Socialist era. Monumental buildings and their remains reflect the regime’s former presence, while memorials and commemorative markers tell stories of persecution and resistance against the Nazi regime (lasts approx. 60 min., limited number of participants permitted on site).
C | Elektrische Stadt (Electric City)
Meeting point: in front of the Müllerschen Volksbad, Rosenheimer Straße 1, Tour 94, Deutsches Museum
8, 8:30 pm: On a walk along the Isar River from the Muffatwerk to the Maxwerk, visitors will be able to explore key sites associated with Munich’s earliest urban electricity infrastructure. Learn about the city’s first municipal, governmental, and private electricity users, as well as the development of Munich’s public electric street-lighting network (lasts approx. 45 min., limited number of participants permitted on site).
