The Künstlerinnenhaus (Women Artists’ House) on the banks of the Schwabinger Bach presents the estate of Munich painter and benefactor Magda Bittner-Simmet in a historic setting. The AtelierMuseum currently showcases a dialogue between the photography of Karin Schneider-Henn and the paintings of Magda Bittner-Simmet. Florian Clemens Meier, recipient of the SommerAtelier fellowship, will present his artistic work. SommerAtelier is a collaborative project of the Magda Bittner-Simmet Foundation and the Akademieverein München.
Cycling Tour in the Footsteps of a Munich Painter of the Economic Miracle Years

6:30 pm: The artistic career of Munich painter Magda Bittner-Simmet began at the Academy of Fine Arts Munich. Determined and confident, she established herself in Munich’s art scene after 1945. Her first studio was located at Leopoldstraße 38a. She was a member of the traditional Seerosenkreis artists’ circle, which met regularly at the Seerose restaurant, and in 1972 she built her Women Artists’ House on the banks of the Schwabinger Bach. Learn more on a guided cycling tour led by art historian Dr. Wolfgang Urbanczik (lasts 90 min., number of participants is limited, BYOB – Bring Your Own Bicycle).
