Coins: A World History in Gold and Silver

Take a stroll through history and around the world. From the earliest coins of the ancient Greeks, past Caesar and Cleopatra to the talers and ducats of the Bavarian electorate dukes and kings. In “ Neue Schätze. Glanzlichter aus dem Tresor” (New Treasures. Highlights from the Vault), masterpieces never before exhibited will be on display for the first time. Works used on the last German Mark banknotes by artist and professor Anja Mohr will also be presented.

2 – 4.30 pm: Immerse yourself in the fascinating world of coins at the Munich State Coin Collection! Here you can paint coins from the vault, solve a coin quiz and win something in the process.

Design your own buttons and embark on an exciting treasure hunt. This year we are also offering you the opportunity to mint your own special coin for the Long Night on a historic minting press from 1871.
