Sammlung Schack

Prinzregentenstraße 9, 80538 München

Art

The Schack Collection is a little gem among Munich's museums. Pictures from legends and fairy tales tell stories of distant lands and bygone ages. The collection of paintings by the poet and cultural historian Adolf Friedrich von Schack is one of the most important collections of 19th century German painting and invites visitors to take a stroll through the world of romantic images and ideas. Masterpieces from the Neue Pinakothek, which is currently closed for renovation, will also be on display. “Improv-oetry” for the Long Night: Stieler, Lenbach, Schwind. Three painters – three rooms – three poems. The actress and singer Maria Maschenka – the “Grande Dame of sophisticated madness!” – will present three spontaneously improvised poems about three paintings selected by the audience, for which new picture titles will be invented.
