Poster Motif
This depiction of the moon was carved in 1477 by Erasmus Grasser for the Dance Hall of the Altes Rathaus. Alongside one sun and eleven heraldry shields, the moon graced the ceiling of the almost ten meter high Hall and made up part of a complex series of heraldry. Today, it is housed in Munich’s City Museum and on display there next to the famous Morris dancers, also carved by Grasser, until the general renovations begin (January 2024).
