Lenbachhaus

“The entire work called art knows no borders or peoples, just humanity,” said Kandinsky and Marc in their almanac “Der Blaue Reiter” (The Blue Rider) in 1912. This tenet inspired the Lenbachhaus to create a presentation in which, for the first time, the link between folk art, wood carvings, children’s paintings, music, and works from, among others, Bali, Oceania, Sri Lanka, and Mexico as depicted in the almanac can be clearly retraced.
