Alte Pinakothek

Barer Straße 27, 80333 München

Art

The Alte Pinakothek counts as one of Europe’s most significant portrait galleries. It presents extraordinary works from one of the world’s largest collections of European painting from the 14th to the 18th Centuries. Among them you can find a number of the major works by Dürer and Rubens as well as key celebrated works from such masters as Rogier van der Weyden, Raffael, Tiziano, Altdorfer, Cranach, Jan Brueghel the Elder, van Dyck, Rembrandt, Poussin and Murillo. Around two-hundred paintings have been brought together for the current presentation of the collection “Old Masters in Motion.” In the halls of the Obere Galerie, Upper Gallery, you will encounter, in unusual contexts, dialog constellations and thematic groups that will invite you to rediscover familiar masterworks all anew.
Furthermore, the most important works from the Neue Pinakothek, presently closed for extensive renovations, can now be seen in the Alte Pinakothek; a one-of-a-kind opportunity to experience the most famous paintings from both houses together under one roof.
