10 - 11 pm:

TRÄNEN (Tears)

Gwen Dolyn (Toyboys) and Steffen Israel (Kraftklub) from Chemnitz have found their very own sound aesthetic, backed by a sinister new-wave aura, lovely-sounding pop passages, echoing vocals, 80ies syntho-surfaces and dominating guitar runs. Their sparse lyrics conjure up other German bands – sometimes “Wir sind Helden,” sometimes “Hans-A-Plast,” and sometimes “Ideal.” Hearing-impaired performer Ilknur Warnecke will be sign-translating the concert.

11.30 pm - 12.30 am:

Raketenumschau

Munich pop at its finest. The band Raketenumschau is presently recording their debut album at Trikont and is taking a break from the studio just for this concert. Their audience can look forward to an ecstatic live act with Leon Frei and Quirin Schacherl (vocals, guitar, keys), Paul Sternagel (drums)and Jonathan Petersen (bass).

PROBENSAAL: Made by Hochschule für Musik und Theater

8 - 8.45 pm:

Schlagrechtweit

Minimalistic melodies, sizzling syntho-sounds, tight grooves, four-on-the-floor, and extravagant arrangements: inspired by electro, hip-hop and jazz, Marina Schlagintweit (e-piano) and Tilman Albrecht (drums) righteously (the rechtweit in the name) danceable music.

9.15 - 10 pm:

Loni Elle

Soul and jazz with multi-instrumentalist Loni Elle in a duo with pianist Adél Kövecs. Inspired by UK jazz, R&B and indie; melodic trumpet passages, emotional vocals and groovy basslines underscore the social criticism in the political lyrics.

10.30 – 11.15pm:

Three and a Half

The name says it all: 3.5 musicians from 3.5 continents help themselves from more than three music genres. Englisch-German saxophonist and bassist Edi May, Columbian guitarist Óscar Mosquera and American drummer Nathan Carruthers play jazz, hip-hop, rock, drum & bass, and many further styles.

KLEINER SAAL: Made by Hochschule für Musik und Theater

8.15 - 9 pm:

Hackbrettivo

The ensemble will be presenting a colorful assortment of classic, folk music and folklore on a variety of different dulcimers. Contemporary compositions create an arc from traditional to modern.

9.30 - 10.15 pm:

Jazz with Fernanda von Sachsen-Gessaphe and Pablo Struff

Fernanda von Sachsen-Gessaphe sings jazz standards with passion and devotion; the focus is on improvisation with Pablo Struff‘s piano-playing. If the two had to describe their interplay with a single word, they would land on “interactive.”

10.45 - 11.30 pm:

Haegeum-Crossover with Soojeong Ko, Pablo Struff and Schorschi Unterholzner

The haegeum is a Korean string instrument and Soojeong Ko is presently the only one in Europe who plays it. A unique opportunity to experience this instrument live! Korean folk music meets up with jazz, classical music, and rhythms with Pablo Struff (piano) and Schorschi Unterholzner (guitar).
